Commander’s Corner
Thank you to everyone who came to our awards ceremony which was held March 17. It was so rewarding to see so many who honored our Voice of Democracy and Patriots' Pen winners. To the many volunteers who were honored, you have my deepest appreciation for what you did to make this past year so successful. To JR Owen and his crew, thank you so much for the wonderful meal. It was terriffic!
Thanks to the generous donations of so many members, our goal to raise money for new barstools exceeded my expectations. We were able to purchase 40 new barstools, which were desperately needed, and 2 new high top tables.
The testimonial dinner for the District Commnader and Ladies Auxiliary President will be May 12 at 6 pm at our post. Price is $10. The District Commander is our own Harry Seiler so let's show Harry our appreciation and have a little fun with it. Please contact me for tickets. 904-771-6445.
As soon as we get the times and everything finalized we will send out a flyer for our annual Memorial Day Party. I'm sure the smoked hog will be even better this year.
We are very fortunate to have so many wonderful members. The job as Commander is so much easier with all the great help. We need to all thank John Daniels, our QM for the wonderful job he does with the money, Ron Shuppert for his job with the building and canteen, and JR Owen and Rodney Scarborough for the great job they have done with membership. As always I am thankful that our post has the best auxiliaries of any VFW.
Spring has sprung, and we need to stay ahead of the weeds, brush, and vines. As soon as we decide on a Saturday in April for post grounds clean up, we will send it out. We had a great response last time with both equipment and hard working hands! Let's all pitch in to get it done quickly!
